Alan Hansell
Senior Consultant
Alan Hansell has extensive experience in IT management, consulting and assisting clients identify and compare their unit costs and best practices with their peers.
Assignments include:
- Developing an RFT (Request for Tender) for a major credit union for IT managed services, evaluating the responses and providing a report for management on the attributes of each provider and their capacity to meet the client’s requirements
- Developing an RFP (Request for Proposal) for a construction contracting company for managed service for a video conferencing solution, evaluating the responses and recommending the provider with the most attractive solution.
- Assisting a large conglomerate servicing the mining and construction industry in Australia and New Zealand, negotiate and successfully conclude outsourcing agreements with major providers in 2005 and 2008. This included identifying IT service delivery components and their costs preparatory to entering into contract negotiations
- Assisting a Federal Government agency in assessing their IT service delivery options and their financial options including costs prior to going to market for IT services.
- Identifying the desk top unit costs for Queensland Health whilst preparing a Benefits Realisation plan for the consolidation of its data centres
- Preparing business cases for major, publicly listed exploration and production companies for Records and Document Management systems, including the IT unit cost components.
- Assisting a major research company's clients interpret the results and consequences arising from their IT Benchmarking studies.
Other roles
Amongst Alan’s roles is that of an advisor for IBRS, a local IT management research firm, and regular contributor to their publications. In this role he has written articles on benchmarking and benefits management. Excerpts have been included in A/NZ wide print media including newspapers and journals
He has had roles as Director of Gartner's Executive program, a Principal Consultant with the DMR Group and an IS professional, project manager and industry consultant for IBM Australia for 30 years.
Qualifications
Alan was an accredited instructor for the Public Sector Management Course for 8 years in Queensland and ACT from 1991 until 1999. He has had extensive experience as an IT management consultant and mentor in Federal Government agencies in Canberra.
Alan is a CPA and an Associate of Chartered Institute of Secretaries.
