Macquarie Bank
Background
Macquarie Bank’s move from 50 Grenfell Street, Adelaide to new premises at 151 Pirie Street presented an ideal opportunity to review their physical layout and working arrangements.
The nature of Macquarie’s business means that it needs to maintain large quantities of information, much of which is in hard copy.
The purpose of this project was to rationalise hard copy information in a way that allowed Macquarie to improve use of space in the new office, while remaining sensitive to both internal and external cultural issues and maintaining a high level of service to clients.
Experience Matters was engaged to:
- Review the existing office for current storage methods
- Analyse the volume of material by location and work group
- Recommend security and protection requirements including fire rated storage
- Recommend improvements in procedures and current practices
- Provide training
- Provide project management and communication
Project Deliverables:
- A detailed Shrink Analysis of Macquarie Bank’s Adelaide operation
- A reduction in the amount of hard copy information stored on the premises
- Recommendations for onsite vs offsite storage options
- Recommendations and implementation of improvements in the housing of files.
Benefits:
This project reduced the space needed for on-premise storage by a considerable amount. This translated into a significant saving in rental costs.
In the client’s words:
“The space saving achieved is considerable.
Experience Matters have done this many times before, but it was new to us. They brought with them expertise in recordkeeping, audit and inventory, together with professional architectural expertise in fit-out, facility management and space planning.
They made the connection between the management of records and documents, contributed to sound information management and the business benefits for our organisation.
The review undertaken by Experience Matters also precipitated a cultural change within our firm which has proved beneficial to our clients and our business.
I would be happy discuss our project with any organisation thinking about relocating.”
