Course Overview

This practical course provides an introduction to the approaches used for establishing a data quality management capability in the organisation.  Topics covered include:

  • A review of the reasons for poor information and data quality management based on International research led by Experience Matters,
  • How sell the case for change and gain commitment to act. Our 3C approach is used to target all key people involved including executive management,
  • Overview of  our DQM Framework including:
  1. Doing Things Right: Data Quality Management Governance
  2. Data Steward Role
  3. Doing the Right Thing: Making the best decisions by taking a ‘big picture’ perspective of the organisation
  4. Continuous improvement: tools and techniques especially adapted to data and information
  • Review of Organisational Change

Outcomes

  • Understand the reasons for poor information management
  • Understand how to build and sell the business case for sustainable change to management, customers and peers
  • Understand why change in organisations works or fails
  • Based on these three points, help students form their own expectations of what they can achieve in their organisation
