Treasury Wine Estates is one of the world’s largest wine companies, operating globally with over 70 brands and 3,400 employees producing more than 36,400,000 cases of wine. Greg Pierce, the Manager of Rycroft Winery and an expert in continuous improvement decided to train those guns on the winery’s internal operations.
With only 34 staff, Rycroft Winery needed a pragmatic and cost effective solution. Experience Matters was engaged to:

- Build a filing plan that matched the activities of the business and was thus intuitive

Staff now knew what to keep, what to call it and where to put it. As the organisation could recognise the financial benefit of transforming unproductive activity into productive activity, a benefits realisation programme was implemented. Additionally, network monitoring was set up to see exactly whose behaviour had changed so good practice could be rewarded.
$91,000 worth of benefit was driven by the winery’s 34 staff members using their simple tools in three months, equating to a recurring benefit of $10,700 per person per year without a cent being spent on hardware and software infrastructure.
Shortly after implementation a worker in wine operations declared, “This is fantastic, we can find stuff”.
