“At a time when everyone seems to have become an instant data expert and AI genius, it’s refreshing to read a rigorously researched and pragmatically laid out examination of this fundamentally important topic. In my view, it’s a prime example of the Australian MBA culture (minimum bullshit allowed) in action and needs to be on everyone’s reading list.”
Daragh O Brien, CEO, Castlebridge and Lecturer in Data Protection and Data Governance, UCD Sutherland School of Law.

“Price and Evans have produced a ground-breaking, mind-altering book on how organizations and executives need to be thinking about and approaching information in their organizations, but why they regularly fail to do so. This perhaps is the most comprehensively researched and one of the most important books ever published on the topic of managing data as an actual enterprise asset and overcoming the persistent business pathology preventing it.”
Douglas B. Laney, Innovation Fellow, West Monroe Partners, and author of “Infonomics and Data Juice”

BOOK 2: INFORMATION ASSETS
An Executive Guide to the Untapped Driver of Business Success
by James Price & Nina Evans

In the age of Artificial Intelligence, organisations are increasingly using data, information and knowledge as a competitive weapon. Their data, information and knowledge are arguably their most valuable assets. Yet, this fourth asset is managed badly when compared to the other three assets – namely money, people and infrastructure – with considerable risk to the organisation. Executives are accountable for the success of their organisations, and those who fail to manage this critical resource and business enabler effectively can be regarded as negligent.

“In politics, information is everything. Data is like gold. Everyone wants yours and no one wants to share theirs. When you leave politics, you realise what an asset you have accumulated but how much better it could be organised to achieve the outcomes you seek. This contribution with respect to information assets is timely and valuable. The business that manages its information assets best is putting itself in front of all its competitors.”
Hon Christopher Pyne, Executive Chairman, Pyne and Partners, Former Minister for Defence of Australia

“Prodago is globally unique in its role as an aggregator of standards and methodologies in the governance and management of data. We bring together the best of global thinking and proven practice – integrating diverse frameworks to expose gaps, remove overlaps and recommend the optimal path for every business situation. While many organisations aspire to manage data as an asset, most struggle to make data management truly business-driven. The result is all too common: data and AI strategies that are rigid, disconnected from business needs and ultimately fail to deliver measurable outcomes.

This is where Experience Matters and Adelaide University lead the way. Their research goes beyond surface-level fixes to address the root causes of this disconnect. Their Holistic Model defines, assesses and structures the enterprise capabilities that ensure an agile and continuous connection between business objectives and data management.  Through extensive research, frameworks and real-world expertise, Experience Matters and Adelaide University are shaping the future of how organisations unlock the value of their information assets – transforming data from a technical challenge into a true strategic advantage.”
Mario Cantin, Founder and CEO, Prodago, Montreal, Canada

Research Papers

Our “Barriers” paper describes the findings of our research into why there is a contradiction between how well Boards and executives declare they are governing and managing their data, information and knowledge assets and the reality.  Gartner described this paper as “ground-breaking”.  Read more

The “Maturity Model” paper describes the development of a holistic Information Asset management maturity model.  This is our most requested paper.  Last year, a £2 billion consulting engineering firm asked us to compare, in other words justify, our work with that of DAMA, Deloitte, the EDM Council, Ernst & Young and Gartner.  We found that the methodologies of those organisations is where we were in 2010.  Read more

The “Benefits” paper is compiled from anecdotal evidence from our clients.  Read more
